Elections
On Tuesday our city, state and nation will be making choices regarding many different leadership races. Special thanks to SCC for sponsoring our own mock-elections. Elementary West students will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite candidate in the lobby. This is a great opportunity as we start talking about Citizenship and being loyal to your country.
Red Ribbon Week Success
Wow! Thanks for helping make our Red Ribbon Week so successful. Kids were definitely excited about their dress up days, our special DARE assembly and their Halloween parties. Special thanks to our Student Character Council and our DARE officer for organizing our daily celebrations.
Nov. 4th –Picture Re-Takes
On November 4th, Life Touch will be visiting Elementary West for picture re-takes. This is an opportunity for families to re-take their fall photo, but remember Life Touch will be back this Spring to offer additional photos that includes a class picture. If you have any questions, please feel free to call.
Nov. 6th – PTO Meeting
On Wednesday, November 6th @ 12:30 p.m., the PTO will be gathering for its monthly business meeting. This is a great time for teachers, parents and administration to share the positive components of our school and to partner with the PTO on upcoming events.
Nov. 6th - 4 Grade Music Program
This week Mrs. Doherty and the 4th grade team will be putting the finishing touches on the 4th grade music program. The 4th grade students have a final rehearsal on Wednesday at 10:00 in the gym. Mrs. Doherty has also scheduled an All-School Performance for Thursday at 1:45 p.m. in the gym before their big performance on Thursday evening for families at 6:00 p.m. Special thanks to Mrs. Doherty for planning, persevering and performing this special music concert.
Parent Advisory – Nov. 11th
On November 11th, Elementary West will be hosting our Fall Parent Advisory meeting at 4:15 p.m. in the cafeteria. This is an open meeting and all families are invited to attend. I’ll be sharing ‘08 MAP data, share our 08-09 building goals, provide an update regarding Watch DOGS and talk about our new initiative called “Pirate Time” I hope you can join me for this special opportunity to learn more about our school and what we are doing to make it better.
Cookie Dough – Pick Up – Nov. 12th
Next week families will be able to pick up their cookie dough orders on Wednesday at the Intermediate Building from 4:00 – 7:00. This is the only time they have reserved for pick up and from my understanding any “left over” product will be donated to a local charity. Orders are being packed by students with their individual prizes included. Special thanks to all of our students and families who purchased cookie dough to support our schools.
Lost and Found
The lost and found is overflowing and the cold season has just begun. Please help us reduce the number of lost items by talking with your child about taking responsibility for their actions and clothes. When you stop into the school to visit your child’s class or attend a Monday morning character assembly, please feel free to sift through the piles. All clothes still at school before Christmas break will be donated to the Boys and Girls thrift store.
Parent Conferences
This year Branson Elementary West had a 92% parent conference attendance rate. This excellent turnout is a tribute to the dedication of our families to ensure the success for our students and the commitment of our teachers to openly communicate each child’s strength and area of future growth.
Care Mobile
The Cox Care Mobile will be in Branson on 11-26-08 from 9:00-5:00 at the Wal-Mart Super Center parking lot.This is a mobile pediatric clinic. They take care of children birth-18 yrs. Their main purpose is to take care of the uninsured children that don’t have a primary M.D. But, they will see any child. They don’t turn away anyone. There is no appts made so you never know about the wait time. You can read more about it at www.coxhealth.com. They visit Branson once every month.
